Do they sell these at Staples too?!

If so, I need one immediately!! Yes... I am probably being dramatic but after watching the history channel today, I am surprised I'm not out sky diving at this very moment?! That way I can begin crossing off items from my "Things I must do before the world ends" list?! Why you ask? Well.. let's ask Michel de Nostredame (better known as Nostradamus) shall we?

I'm sure we've all heard that name before: maybe in the papers after the tragedy of the world trade center, maybe we read it in circulating email chains or maybe we've seen it written in permanent marker on the cardboard signs of believers on the street corners. Either way, we've all seen it but maybe we never took the time to read up on it. Or at least I never did. Until today.

To sum it up, Nostradamus published collections of prophecies in 1555 in France. Since that time, Nostradamus has been credited with predicting many major world events.  Although many believe these prophecies (quatrains) are misinterpreted and don't actually tell us anything about the future, (but instead relate to Nostradamus & the world during the time he was alive) there is a large following that associate his prophecies with major world events.  One of his darkest writings is that of armageddon on December 21, 2012. Some say it will be the end of the world but others say it's a warning.. and we should change our ways so the predictions will not happen. I won't sit and tell you every bit of what the history channel had to say but I will share some of his prophecies and let you decide: Are you a skeptic or a believer? I, myself, am freaking out a bit because... how could some of these be so spot on?! How could he predict such specific locations & people when they weren't even made yet?

Here are just a few predictions but there are many, many more...
A - Near the harbors; within two cities, There will be two catastrophes, such as never seen before. Intense in torment, incalculable human lives ended, cries for help from the great God immortal.
Explained: In August of 1945, near the end of WWII, two nuclear catastrophes took place in the twin Japanese harbor cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Here Nostradamus describes for us the incredible horror and loss of human life that accompanied these twin bombings marking the end of the military exploits of the empire of Japan.

2. One of Notradamus's most famous predictions is the prediction of 9/11:
In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a great King of Terror. The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city. In the city of York there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb third big war will begin when the big city is burning.

3. Predictions for 12.21.2012:
After there is great trouble among mankind, a greater one is prepared. The great mover of the universe will renew time, rain, blood, thirst, famine, steel weapons and disease. In the heavens, a fire seen.

4. The blood of the just in London shall be demanded, burned by the flames in '66 the ancient city will seek to be a safer place, many of the same (suspected) sect will be killed.
Explained - This quatrain describes the great Fire of London that occurred in 1666, destroying nearly 80 percent of the old walled city, and the fate of the Dutchman who were blamed for setting the fire were murdered in the streets.

5. Mabus then quickly at this time will commit (mass) murder, there will come.Upon men, beasts, one horrible fate. Then one shall see a coup of vengeance upon all, There is a great taking (of lives), thirst, anger, when the comet shall pass.
Nostradamus employs another of his famous wordgames to describe a minor antichrist named "mabus," which, when held up to a mirror, produces the name "sudam".  And indeed it is the evil Suddam Hussein who will bring a horrible fate upon both men and beasts in the mid 1980's (at the passing of Halley's Comet) when he will employ the use of chemical weapons in horrible acts of vengeance upon his many enemies.  It is interesting to note Nostradamus' reference to "thirst," which is a marked symptom of chemical poisoning.  Although Suddam is quickly eliminated, his evil acts will lead America into a war in the Middle East from which it will not be able to extricate itself.

6. After the victory of his raving speech, His spirit now tempered with tranquility repose. Victoriously celebrating with conflicting false harangue, While roasting the tongue, the flesh, the bones.
Explained - While Adolf Hitler was performing his wild and passionate speeches for the German people, the smell of roasting human flesh was drifting over the German countryside from prison camps at Auschwitz and elsewhere.  Hitler's speeches often left him completely exhausted, but extremely self-satisfied.  After all, he was pursuing his idealistic dream for the German people of creating a perfect human society, unfettered by the "genetically inferior" members of the "lower races" of Europe.  When Hitler's deeds were finally exposed to public view, it was almost beyond belief to realize that the German people had willingly followed this false messiah down the path to Hecatombe.

So.. is it a warning or a promise? Isn't it so amazing that he speaks of people and places that weren't even made (or alive) during his time?! Are you a skeptic or a believer? I choose to believe that he is giving us a head's up - the future is not set in stone so this is our warning. Change our ways or else.
