Yes. I am the worst blogger. I am not even sure what happened this week?! I'm sure most of you know what I am talking about - those days where you feel like you are just foggy. Those days where you leave work, pull up onto the driveway and say "oh my goodness, I don't even recall starting the car or driving?!" That's the week I've had this week. I'm just in this cloud. Or really the gray cloud is following me like in the episodes of Duck Tales, where Scrooge McDuck is being followed by that rain cloud with threatening lightning bolts!!?! I know someone out there knows what I am talking about - I hope?! So I promised myself that I would post and stay positive so ... let me tell you about my trip to the market!
| On Sundays, while my hubby works in the evening - I love going through my food magazines to plan out the weeks dinners! I love trying to find dishes using coordinated veggies & spices so I get the most out of my food! I don't like wasting food - actually, I HATE that! |
| Every time I need to food shop, I walk about 5 blocks (there & back) to my local Vons. It is an activity most people find annoying but I love walking there & I love food shopping. I love cooking! I'm not the best but I do enjoy it. And so does my hubby! |
| These gorgeous flowers were growing in a dark side alley! Splashing such beautiful colors against the bricks! I love Spring! (This color reminded me of the orange from my wedding so I then remembered what an amazing time that was for us all!) |
| This is a bit crazy I know but everytime I pass this street with these trees lining the sidewalk, I think of The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein. When I see this tree, I think of the little boy who grows up experiencing the love and generosity of a tree which gives to him without thought of return. It's such a wonderful book. A bit sad but so is life sometimes. Sadly. |
| Even the bark on here.. just reminds me of that book! And the fact that I have yet to carve our names into a tree?! How could this be?! This shall be done this weekend I think. |
| I'm so glad to see everything in bloom! Makes the walk so much more fun! |
| My goal today was to food shop but only fill ONE bag. Most of the time, I buy WAYYYY too much and then I wind up yelling at myself about how weak I am the whole way home! And of course - No plastic bags! I love my food bags! |
| Minus the Cool Whip - I am planning on making a tasty, somewhat Light dinner! What could it be!? |
| Yes, all children run & hide - there will be brussel sprouts with dinner?! |
| They don't look so terrible in the skillet do they?! Add a little onions, olive oil garlic and this house is smelling tasty! |
| New York Strip Steaks grilled on our fantastic little indoor grill! My hubby can't wait to have his own on the back deck but for now - this is WONDERFUL to have! |
| Bon Appetit! Grilled Steak with Sweet Potato French Fries and Browned Brussle Sprouts! Everyone survived and actually my hubby LOVED the brussel sprouts and of course the Sweet Potato Fries! |
| Oops.. I forgot the MOST DELICIOUS part of dinner - Those little cups filled with Horseradish/Chive Sauce! It went so well with the steak! We will definitely whip that up again for a side! |
And then for a quick and somewhat healthy dessert, I threw together berries with a scoop of Cool Whip! Normally I would bake angel food cake (hubby's favorite) but since we are trying to cut back on calories, this hit the spot just fine! The strawberries are so fresh and tasty! Give it a try instead of grabbing that tub of ice cream! I promise you - you won't be disappointed!!
